The NEW Moving Force

DINGO EYES

SOLAR POWERED ROAD DELINEATORS

A revolutionary new safety lighting system designed to reduce exposure to accidents at hot spots on mine sites and on roads.  Visits to mine sites highlights how dangerous poorly lit trafficable areas can be.

The new DINGO EYES can indicate dangerous points and guide you particularly at night.  They will contribute greatly towards your safety and enhance accident prevention.

With bright coloured lights and extra long duty solar charged batteries, DINGO EYES will shine brightly for many nights even if the sun doesn’t shine for days.  Along with the reflective tape on each post, DINGO EYES will never stop guiding you.

DINGO EYES are made of quality materials, easily installed and removed, are dust and moisture proof and their streamlined profile allows for simple and quick cleaning.

DINGO EYES can be used for permanent illumination of roads and paths or used as flashing barriers around dangerous items such as broken down machinery or unsafe areas.  Lens colours can be changed to suit any application.

Driving at Night – Visual Perception

So that drivers retain the ability to stay safely in control of their vehicles a driver’s visual input and cognitive processing needs to be fully optimised.  Visual factors and perception of hazards such as poor delineation can lead to driver misjudgement on approaches to unlit bends and curves.

Drivers travelling at high speed have no fixed datum to allow proper judgement of the radius of a bend or other hazard.  The installation of DINGO EYES allows the driver up to 800 metres of visible road layout irrespective of headlight efficiency.  This significantly extends the preview time, provides conspicuous and legible reference points at ground level and focuses delineation in the driver’s direct vision.  By increasing driver reaction time, the driver is therefore less likely to need to make sudden changes to the vehicle speed or direction and avoids sudden braking.

Visual perception is critical to the night time driving task and enhanced delineation is the most important factor to achieve a more controlled driving regime.

The introduction of DINGO EYES road delineators has delivered significantly additional benefits by providing enhanced visual guidance at night and particularly in adverse weather when traditional marker performance is more limited.  They give a clear indication of road verges especially beneficial when vision is hindered by the headlights of on-coming vehicles.

DINGO EYES are capable of operating for numerous nights on a single daytime charge. The units are fully self-contained and require no maintenance.  They are streamlined in design for easy cleaning.  They are available in either bi-directional or uni-directional formats and incorporate LED’s and reflective material to the approved standard white, red, amber, green and blue colour combinations.

Case Studies

There have been numerous studies into road safety, especially for night travel.

One study in Norfolk, England to test solar powered road lights for use as night delineation and fog guidance on a 2 km stretch of winding road found that over a 3 year period prior to August 1999 there were 22 recorded accidents.  In the first 2 years 2 months after the introduction of the lights there had been only 5 recorded accidents none of which occurred during darkness.

A 2003 study in Kwazulu-Natal Province, South Africa found similar results.  In 7 months there had been 103 accidents with 27 lives lost on a 34 km stretch of the R66 road between Melmoth and Ulundi.  In the 6 months after installation of the solar powered lights there had been no accident on that stretch of road.

 The Answer

DINGO EYES provide clearly visible traffic guidance in all weather conditions.  After being energized by the sun, DINGO EYES automatically start to shine when night falls or with the onset of inclement weather.  The bright LEDs are highly effective at getting the attention of drivers.  This advanced warning gives drivers more time to avoid or navigate danger zones.

Road and Mining Supplies

Just a note to say that the Dingo Eyes Delineators which we have been trailing have proven to be a success resulting in a huge improvement for our operators on night shift.  We first trialed them in areas that have been difficult to delineate effectively in the past.  As a result of that success we then trialed them on haul roads that we precisely thought to be ok.  Well, the improvement was well worth it, and we will be installing more of the Dingo Eyes Delineators around this mine site

Hi Guys

We have had great feedback about the Dingo Eyes from the people on nightshift.

They were so impressed they told our client about them at a safety meeting and now they are looking at trialing them too.

Just thought I’d let you know - our client is one of the biggest coal producers in Queensland.
